Streets Ahead information for the resurfacing of Westbury Avenue

Our reference: CA5 – Westbury Avenue

Dear Resident/Business

Road Resurfacing Work

We will soon be resurfacing a section of Westbury Avenue as part of the Council’s Streets Ahead highway improvement programme.

This work is due to start mid-May and will last approximately 1 day, between the hours of 7am-7pm, Monday – Friday only.  In addition, we will need to return to refresh any existing road markings as necessary.

Temporary road signs will be displayed for a minimum of five days before work starts, confirming the dates and any associated parking restrictions or road closures.  The signs show a “work window” of dates and times when we are permitted to carry out our works.  However, we may not be on site for the full duration shown.  Unfortunately, we are unable to be more specific about days, as our  schedule can be affected by unforeseen circumstances, and it may be necessary to delay the start date at short notice. Our programme is heavily dependent on the weather, for example, it is preferable not to lay road surface in cold weather and can be unsafe for us to work in very wet conditions.

Please note that we will need to close the road to complete these works and there will be no on-street parking during working hours. Vehicles left on-street may be towed away and you would need to pay a fee to have your vehicle released.

If you are away during the period in which the works are scheduled to take place, please avoid parking your car on the road.

You may leave your vehicle on your drive during our works, but vehicle access will not be allowed, and we apologise to everyone landlocked by our works, however, it is vital that we safeguard you and our operatives and complete our works quickly and unhindered.  Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be available at all times.

For any changes to your local bus service or diversion routes visit www.travelsouthyorkshire.com follow @TravelSYorks on Twitter or call Traveline on 01709 515151.

In most instances your bin collection day won’t change but collections may be earlier or later than usual. Please put your bins out by 7am on collection day. For any changes to your bin collection days follow @Recycle4Shef on Twitter, report a missed collection via www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield  or call 0114 273 4567 between 8am and 6pm.

Road Safety

Help us keep you and our workforce safe during roadworks.

  • Be patient and take extra care during road works.
  • Allow extra time for your journey.
  • Stick to the designated diversion routes and always drive within the speed limit.

Bogus Callers

All Streets Ahead and Amey employees carry identity cards, therefore, if you are approached by someone claiming to be from Amey, the Council or the Streets Ahead programme, offering services for a cash payment, please do not hand over any money. If you have any doubts about the identity of a person, please take their details, a vehicle registration number and pass them to customer services, who will investigate and where necessary, inform the Police.
