Powells bus service changes – from Monday 24 January

As a result of driver shortages and engineering issues, Powells will be making temporary changes to some of their services, from Monday 24 January 2022, to help prevent on-the-day cancellations.

Powells have been relying on agency staff but this is no longer sustainable with adhoc cancellations occurring.

A double decker bus has been sent to Powells depot from elsewhere and they are looking for another vehicle to assist with school service delivery.

From Monday 24 January the following changes will be implemented:

  • Service 3 will operate hourly
  • Service 18 – minor timetable changes
  • Service 49 will be reduced but some journeys will be retained for residents that can’t access service 219/219a
  • No other changes to Powells local bus or school services

How will this information be communicated to customers?

To ensure customers can stay up to date with the latest changes, our Service Changes page has been updated to reflect the latest service information at travelsouthyorkshire.com/servicechanges. We will continue to update our Disruptions page to reflect any short notice service cancellations at travelsouthyorkshire.com/Disruptions

Powells will be tweeting service changes and cancellations via @PowellsBus, which we will retweet on our @TSYalerts Twitter feed, as well as sharing overall messages from Powells via @TravelSYorks.

In the first instance it is recommended that customers check service availability via the above links before they travel and make alternative arrangements where required.

Alternatively, customers who do not have access to the internet or social media can call Traveline on 01709 51 51 51 for the latest information.

How can you help?

It would be appreciated if you could please advise as many people as possible about these changes and where to find the latest available information via your usual channels.

If these changes cause any particular issues in your area, please let us know.

Kind regards
