Engineering works affecting Tram Train services on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February 2022

Dear Colleague

Engineering works affecting Tram Train services on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February 2022

I am writing to advise you that Network Rail plan to carry out engineering works in the Rotherham area on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February, affecting Tram Train services.

These works will mean that Tram Train services will only operate between Cathedral and Meadowhall on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February. Tram train services will not serve Parkgate or Rotherham Central on these days.

Alternative services and ticket acceptance

Customers wishing to travel between Tinsley, Rotherham Central and Parkgate on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 February can use the following alternative services:

  • Northern Railway replacement bus services between Meadowhall Interchange, Rotherham Central and Parkgate.
    • Rail replacement buses serving Parkgate will use the bus stops as shown below:
      • At Parkgate towards Rotherham – Rotherham Road/Stadium Way (stop ID 37030864)
      • From Rotherham – Rotherham Road/Stadium Way (37030863)
  • Stagecoach bus services between Parkgate and Rotherham town centre.

For more details about the engineering works and Rail Replacement services please visit the National Rail website.

Valid Supertram tickets will be accepted on Stagecoach bus services between Parkgate and Rotherham, and on Northern rail replacement bus services between Parkgate, Rotherham Central and Meadowhall only.

Anyone travelling between Rotherham and Sheffield to attend the Sheffield Wednesday v Rotherham United football match at Hillsborough Stadium on 13 February should allow extra time for their journey as bus services will be busier and the journey is likely to take much longer than usual.

How is this being communicated to customers?

Supertram are advising customers of the changes via their social media channels @SCSupertram, which we will retweet on our @TSYalerts Twitter feed, and on their website. Customer notices will also be posted at affected tram stops.

The latest information and a copy of the rail replacement bus timetable is available at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/news/yorkshire/2022/february-2022/network-rail-engineering-12-and-13-february.

Up to date bus timetables and journey planning tools are available at www.travelsouthyorkshire.com.

In the first instance it is recommended that customers check service availability via the above channels before they travel and make alternative arrangements where required.

Alternatively, customers who do not have access to the internet or social media can call Traveline on 01709 51 51 51 for the latest information.
