National Rail Strikes

Industrial action Tuesday 21, Thursday 23 and Saturday 25 June affecting rail services

As you are no doubt aware, National strikes have been announced by rail unions RMT and ASLEF, which will take place on Tuesday 21, Thursday 23, and Saturday 25 June. Drivers at Hull Trains will also strike Sunday 26 June, affecting Hull-Doncaster-London services.

How will this impact services?

On strike days any running services will only operate be between 0700-1900 and are expected to be extremely busy.

 

Customers are asked to only travel by rail if absolutely necessary, to plan ahead and leave extra time for disruption and short notice changes.

 

On the days between strikes a significantly reduced level of service will be in place and customers should expect some disruption to the advertised service levels.

 

The following operators and routes will be affected:

East Midland Railways (EMR)

  • Tuesday 21, Thursday 23, and Saturday 25 June:

 

  • Liverpool to Norwich via Sheffield – 1x service per hour Sheffield to Nottingham
  • Sheffield to Manchester – no services
  • Sheffield to London St Pancras – 1x service per hour.
  • Wednesday 22 and Friday 24 June:

 

  • Liverpool to Norwich via Sheffield – 1x service per hour Sheffield to Nottingham (timetable)
  • Sheffield to Manchester – no services
  • Sheffield to London St Pancras – 1x service per hour (timetable).
  • Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June:

 

  • There will be no direct trains between Luton and London St Pancras due to pre-planned engineering work.

Hull Trains (HT)

  • Tuesday 21, Thursday 23, and Saturday 25 June:

 

  • Services will only be operating between Doncaster and London King’s Cross.

 

  • Sunday 26 June

 

  • No services.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER)

  • Tuesday 21, Thursday 23, and Saturday 25 June:

 

  • 2x services per hour Doncaster to London Kings Cross
  • Last trains to/from London will be much earlier (between 12:30 and 15:45)
  • Date-specific timetables are available on LNER’s website.

Northern Trains Limited (NTL)

  • Tuesday 21, Thursday 23, and Saturday 25 June:

 

  • Leeds to Sheffield via Wakefield Westgate – 1x service per hour (timetable)
  • No other services in South Yorkshire.

TransPennine Express (TPE)

  • Tuesday 21, Thursday 23, and Saturday 25 June:

 

  • Cleethorpes to Manchester – 5x services will operate in each direction (timetable).

 

  • Sunday 26 June:

 

  • Heavily reduced service.

Cross Country (XC)

  • Tuesday 21 – Friday 24 June:

 

  • Services to/from Southampton (every 2x hours) and Plymouth (every 3x hours)
    • Core Route: Birmingham to Sheffield to York – 1x service per hour (timetable)
  • Last train to Edinburgh leaves Sheffield 14:21.

 

  • Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June:

 

  • Services operating to similar levels as earlier in the week, with slight amendments (timetable).

Tickets

Operators are suspending sales of Advance tickets for the strike dates to minimise disruption. Some tickets are usable on dates leading up to the strike action and customers are advised to check before travel.

 

Customers with tickets are advised to contact the company from which they purchased their products to enquire about any potential refund.

 

Most ticket offices across the region are expected to be closed, this will reduce the range of tickets available.
