Changes to Travel South Yorkshire social media accounts – from Monday 13th March

Travel South Yorkshire aim to bring together all the information from bus and train operators in one place, to make life easier for passengers.

On Monday 13th March Travel South Yorkshire simplified the way they engage with communities and keep them up to date with the latest travel information through social media.

What is changing?

On Monday 13th March, the @TSYAlerts Twitter page was closed and Travel South Yorkshire now have only two official social media accounts – one on Facebook (@Travel South Yorkshire) and one for Twitter (@TravelSYorks). These will be used for customer care and to share travel news.

To make sure their posts are relevant, they will only be posting and sharing travel information that is likely to be helpful to many of their social media audience. This will include major planned and unplanned disruption and events i.e., marathons, festivals, major roadworks, and weather events – as well as cancellations when they are notified by private operators.

Travel South Yorkshire will also keep their accounts on Instagram, SnapChat, and TikTok, but these will be used for paid promotional advertising only.

Relevant travel news and information will continue to be provided through our Twitter and Facebook pages so that people across South Yorkshire can plan their travel. There will be improvements to the online travel tools so that communities can get tailored travel information and plan their journeys with ease.
