Bus service changes in South Yorkshire from 3 September 2023

As you are aware, bus companies in South Yorkshire are free to decide where and when they will run services and our bus network was significantly reduced following commercial reductions last year.

Some services in South Yorkshire will see minor changes to their timetables from Sunday 3 September, to address punctuality and cross boundary issues. There will also be changes to some school services as a result of new tender contracts, as well as changes to some operating times to improve punctuality. South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) has used its annual available budget to protect school services; where possible, any withdrawn services have been replaced by extending other routes, or via alternative services provided by the relevant Local Educations Authority or on the general bus network.

What services are affected?

The attached spreadsheet contains a full list of service changes for South Yorkshire, including details of the school bus services, available from 3 September, for your information.

We will keep our service changes and school buses services web pages up to date and customers are advised to keep checking these pages for the latest service information.

How is this being communicated to the community?

Our Travel South Yorkshire website, where we bring together information from all of the bus, tram and train operators, makes it easier for people in our communities to plan their journeys and keep up to date with the latest changes.

Details of the service changes along with timetables will be available on our website at travelsouthyorkshire.com/servicechanges and school bus service information at travelsouthyorkshire.com/en-gb/journeyplanning/school-buses from Thursday 17 August.

Timetable information on all affected bus stops, on buses and in Interchanges, will be updated as soon as all the information has been received and processed.

Further information about these service changes is also available:

  • via Twitter/X @TravelSYorks
  • via notices at affected bus stops and within our interchanges
  • by calling Traveline on 01709 51 51 51.

How can you help?

I would be grateful if you could please advise your communities, family and friends of the upcoming service changes, and encourage them to plan their journey in advance and direct them to the above contact points in the first instance.
